Mtskheta and Jvari Tour
A short trip from Tbilisi to Mtskheta's principal churches and the Jvari viewpoint above the confluence of two rivers.

This five-hour trip starts in Tbilisi, usually in the morning, and fits two of Georgia's most important religious sites into a practical half-day route. The journey to Mtskheta is short, so most of the time is spent at the stops rather than on the road.
In Mtskheta, you visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral before driving up to Jvari Monastery. From the ridge, you can see the old capital and the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi, making the geography of the area easy to understand.
The price is 68 GEL per person and includes transport from Tbilisi and a guide. Any optional entrance fees or personal expenses are paid separately. The compact schedule leaves the rest of the day free after returning to the city.
What you will see
1. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral
Mtskheta’s principal cathedral. The guide explains why people come here separately from Tbilisi and how to read the building.
2. Jvari Monastery
A church on the hill. From here you see the meeting of two rivers and Mtskheta itself — the route’s main postcard.
3. Streets of Mtskheta
A short walk through the centre between the churches: the town is smaller than the capital, the pace calmer.
